腾讯投资1.5亿VR游戏用于战略布局

据了解，腾讯公司近期又出大动作：花费1770万英镑(约合人民1.5亿)投资英国公司FrontierDevelopment。据了解，此次腾讯投资1.5亿VR游戏用于战略布局，入手了Frontier共9%的股份。



对于投资1.5亿VR游戏的原因，腾讯官方则表示，Frontie有着全世界顶尖的游戏引擎与长达数十年的游戏开发经验，能够为玩家设计出更多美轮美奂的游戏世界场景，满足全世界玩家对于太空无穷尽的幻想。


英国开发商FrontierDevelopment旗下开发过一款名为《Elite Dangerous》太空VR游戏，该游戏目前还未在中国发行。


《Elite Dangerous》是一款多人在线拟真太空模拟游戏，主要针对科幻爱好者，但其对新手玩家极度不友好，上手非常困难。虽然《Elite Dangerous》有着精彩刺激的太空作战，这与腾讯其他游戏并不一样。


腾讯首席战略官詹姆斯·米歇尔(James Mitchell)表示：“Frontier的团队利用高度可扩展的游戏引擎技术，数十年的开发经验，以及越来越成熟的运营来向玩家提供复杂而美丽的游戏世界。我们认为中国的玩家对太空探索，主题公园管理等领域的游戏类型将越来越感兴趣，而这非常适合Frontier的优势，我们期待着帮助Frontier覆盖未来的用户。”
