英特尔将退出5G手机调制解调器业务 专注5G网络

北京时间4月17日早间消息，英特尔今日宣布，公司将退出5G智能手机调制解调器业务，并完成了对PC、物联网和其它以数据为中心设备使用的4G和5G调制解调器的评估工作。英特尔将继续专注投资发展5G网络基础设施业务。

英特尔在新闻稿中表示，公司将继续履行对现有4G智能手机调制解调器产品线的客户承诺，但不准备在智能手机领域推出5G调制解调器，包括最初计划在2020年推出的产品。

“我们对5G和网络‘云化’带来的机会感到振奋，但智能手机调制解调器业务没有明确的盈利和正回报路径。”该公司CEO鲍勃·斯万（Bob Swan）表示，“5G仍是整个英特尔的战略重点，我们的团队开发了有价值的无线产品和知识产权组合。我们正在评估各种选择，来实现我们所创造的价值，包括各种数据中心平台和5G设备蕴含的机会。”

英特尔预计将在即将于4月25日发布的2019年第一财季财报及电话会议上披露更多信息。

此前高通和苹果同时宣布，双方同意放弃全球范围内所有诉讼。和解协议包括苹果向高通支付一笔未披露金额的款项以及一份芯片组供应协议，这可能会为iPhone重新采用其调制解调器芯片铺平道路。去年，苹果公司推出的新款iPhone采用了英特尔的芯片。
