三星涉足数字货币挖矿或成比特大陆有力竞争者。据韩国媒体 The Bell 报道，三星电子与中国的挖矿硬件制造商签订了代工合同，将正式批量生产比特币挖矿芯片。

早在上个月 Korea Herald 称，三星电子已经成功研发出 14 纳米的 ASIC（专用集成电路）芯片，并与 Baikal 公司签署协议，为后者的挖矿硬件提供芯片。此前，三星还批量生产适用于挖矿的显卡 DRAM。这个显卡比常规的 GDDR5 d RAM 的速度要快两倍，并且具有低功耗的设计，从而帮助挖矿的 GPU 性能提高 35％ 之多。有分析认为，三星将成为比特大陆的有力竞争者。
