LG联手地图商HERE共同开发无人驾驶远距离通信技术。在LG看来，自动驾驶汽车技术将会是他们扩大电子业务的新领域。该公司携手地图绘制企业HERE，双方将一起开发针对无人驾驶汽车的远距离通信产品。LG将贡献出自己的通信技术，而HERE将提供自己的位置服务于高分辨率地图，从而形成一个通信中心，无论是半自动驾驶还是全自动驾驶都能够使用。

LG对远距离通信领域并不陌生，自动2013年其，LG就进入了这个市场，他们提供了车辆安全和信息娱乐系统等解决方案。这家韩国公司期待在ADAS和下一代无人驾驶技术方面有所突破，他们此次与HERE达成合作，就是希望能够更好的赶上行业的潮流。


HERE原为诺基亚旗下的地图业务，后来被一个由多家汽车制造商组成的财团所收购，财团的成员包括奥迪、宝马和戴姆勒。


LG的解决方案将会包含GPS、蓝牙、WiFi和5G移动网络等通信技术，从而让公路上的自动驾驶汽车实现数据通讯，并且将这些数据发送给车内的导航以及技术中心。车上传感器数据、众包数据和远距离通信信息对于无人驾驶系统来说都是关键的组成部分。
