美公司发明柔性电路板，能否助力半导体产业回流美国？据《华尔街日报》报道，硅谷正准备重塑半导体产业的根基-电路板。一种柔性超薄的透明电路板有望在美国半导体产业创造更多的就业。



制造这种电路板的Jabil Circuit Inc和Flextronics International等公司设想这种超薄电路板未来可以紧贴皮肤分析士兵和飞行员的身体状况，围绕天然气管道充当检测仪或提供能够检测飞机机翼的应力传感器弹性节点。这一新的半导体工业联合体正由美国国防部和美国能源部牵头以摆脱传统电路板的材料和生产技术。


在一些情况下，半导体电路可以被打印到纸张、塑料或其它有机材料上，类似于喷墨印刷工艺。运用印刷技术到电子产品的概念已经有超过十年。但在过去该领域的努力在很大程度上已经失败了，因为该技术试图取代的硅芯片价格更便宜和用途更加广泛。


但现在，除了驱动技术创新，相关公司和美国政府官员希望新技术能将半导体的制造环节回流美国。大多数大批量生产的芯片和其他电子设备早就从硅谷转移到中国等低成本地区。但像Jabil Circuit Inc公司和Flextronics International Ltd公司的制造环节则一直停留在美国，以帮助客户设计产品并建立原型产品。灵活的电路打印制造能为半导体制造提供更多的机会。一些高管希望美国公司开发的专有技术使柔性电路更难让外国工厂复制同样的产品。


该技术可以被广泛应用于汽车挡风玻璃、天线、太阳能电池和射频识别标签等需要嵌入微小电路的领域。IDTechEx公司预测，柔性电子产品的市场规模将从今年的86亿美元增长到2020年的262亿美元。一直以来，美国的半导体公司都在致力于生产更薄的硅片技术。而柔性电路所产生的芯片可以像一张纸一样被卷起。美国军方的兴趣则部分来自于降低士兵所必须携带的电子设备重量，已经跟踪士兵健康状况的愿望。灵活的皮肤监测传感器可以检测战场上士兵的疲劳状况。其中一家柔性电路开发公司NextFlex其经费就有75亿美元来自国防部，和几所奥巴马政府设立的鼓励制造技术的合作学院。
