一份新的研究报告称，闲置的 Android 设备向谷歌发送的数据几乎是 iOS 设备向苹果服务器发送数据的 10 倍。范德比尔特大学(Vanderbilt University)的道格拉斯·施密特(Douglas Schmidt)教授发表的一篇论文表示，在测试中，一台在后台运行 Chrome 浏览器的 Android 手机在 24 小时内向谷歌发送了 340 次位置数据(约每小时14次)，占发回谷歌的所有流量的 35%。

论文中写道，一款运行 Chrome 浏览器的空闲 Android 手机向谷歌发送数据的速度接近运行 Safari 的 iPhone 的 50 倍。

上周谷歌证实，即使禁用了“位置历史”设置，Android 手机也会继续记录位置数据。为了更彻底地停止跟踪，用户还必须禁用另一个名为“Web 和应用程序活动”的设置。

谷歌依赖于不同程度的数据收集，因为它的主要业务是广告，而苹果的主要业务是硬件。苹果的高管们曾多次吹嘘他们在隐私问题上的立场，有时还将其作为营销方面的攻击点。
