5月19日，美国科幻奇幻协会“星云奖”（Nebula Awards）公布2019年最终获奖名单。玛丽·罗宾内特·科瓦（Mary Robinette Kowal）的《计算恒星》（The Calculating Stars）获得了最高荣誉。

星云奖（Nebula Award）是美国科幻和奇幻作家协会（Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America，SFWA）所设立的奖项，首创于1965年。与雨果奖（Hugo Award）同为科幻、奇幻界最受瞩目的年度奖项。中国知名长篇科幻小说《三体》的英文版曾获得2014年度“星云奖”提名。

此次获奖的《计算恒星》，讲述的是一个关于平行时空的故事。

1953年，一颗小行星撞击地球，引发了气候灾难，迫使各国极力开发太空殖民技术以应对。主人公Elma York是一名技术娴熟的女飞行员。在参与太空项目时，Elma York感受到了周围环境对于女飞行员的排挤。为了打破了传统观念的禁锢，完成首席女宇航员的目标，她不得不克服一个又一个挑战。

实际上，《计算恒星》只是科瓦尔火星女宇航员系列中的一本。全系列一共计划了四本书，核心是讨论未来世界里性别、种族公平等相关话题。

《计算之星》能够获奖，不仅在于科瓦为我们构造了一个全新的科幻场景，也在于她敢于从科幻的视角讨论性别和种族公平的话题。

本书作者玛丽·罗比尼特·柯瓦（Mary Robinette Kowal）对于科幻迷来说其实并不陌生。她的中长篇代表作《邪恶的机器猴子》以及短篇《发条山雀》都曾刊登于《科幻世界·译文版》，她也是《科幻世界·译文版》读者熟悉的作家。

更值一提的是，此前科瓦凭借短篇小说《就因为丢了一枚马掌钉》获得过雨果奖。
