北京时间3月23日早间消息，美国政府宣布，IBM将与白宫共同开发大量超级计算能力，以便帮助研究人员阻止新冠疫情传播。

美国政府表示，这家科技公司已经与白宫科技政策办公室和美国能源部“通过联合措施”开展一个项目。这些超级计算机将用于帮助研究人员部署预测模型，以便分析这种传染病的发展过程以及潜在药物或可能疫苗。

该项目将会评估来自世界各地的研究方案，并将超级计算资源分配给最能产生立竿见影效果的项目。相关的研究人员都将可以使用这些资源。

IBM Summit超级计算机系统已经帮助美国能源部确定了有望对抗新冠病毒的药物成分。

这个联合项目组的其他合作伙伴包括美国国家航空航天局（NASA）、麻省理工学院、伦斯勒理工学院、劳伦斯·利弗莫尔国家实验室、阿贡国家实验室、橡树岭国家实验室、桑迪亚国家实验室和洛斯阿拉莫斯国家实验室以及国家科学基金会。
