为了通吃线上线下沃尔玛居然连名字都改了？据外媒报道，沃尔玛改名了，居然是为了彰显自己要线上线下双线作战的决心。

虽然中文名可能不受影响，但Wal-Mart Stores这个用了48年的法定名称（类似金拱门和麦当劳的关系）从明年2月1日起就要正式更名为Walmart了，Wal与Mart中间的横杠和“Stores”的字样将彻底消失。


本周三，零售巨头正式宣布更名，未来它们将从一个靠实体商店销售产品的公司转型为线上线下通吃的复合型公司。


“虽然这个法定名称用到的地方不多，但我们觉得一个更契合新理念的名字更有说服力，用户未来可以用自己喜欢的任何方式在沃尔玛买到心仪的商品。”沃尔玛主席兼CEO董明伦（Doug McMillon）本周三在声明中说道。


其实沃尔玛酝酿更名始于去年重金收购亚马逊竞争对手Jet.com，此役之后，沃尔玛已经搭建了一个在线品牌小团体，其中包括Modcloth和Bonobos等知名电商品牌。


除了上述公司，零售巨头最近还与Lord & Taylor达成协议，它们将在自己的网店为这家百货公司留出最好的位置。


当然，沃尔玛还会保留实体零售时代的一些经典元素。


1969年，沃尔玛的法定名称为Wal-Mart，但仅仅一年之后它们就在这个名字后面加了个“Stores”，而这个名字一直沿用至今。
